Fern Suehs

Suehs, Fern Juanita (nee Doster) asleep in Jesus on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at age 87 years. Daughter of John Andrew William and Orah Lee (nee Britton) Doster was born on September 1, 1928 near Sharon Tennessee as their 10th child. At the age of 6 weeks, Fern lost her mother. Sometime later, her father married Vada Lee Brooks (6/29/1902 - 6/21/1975) who became Fern's stepmother who raised her. At the age of eight, Fern moved to Missouri where she completed her formal education. On August 29, 1946, just prior to her 18th birthday, she united with Harold Albert Wyatt. In October 1969 after 23 years of marriage, they parted. Three years later she united with Rev. Arnold Victor Suehs with whom she experienced 43 years in the nuptial estate until her passing. He survives together with her daughter, Janette Marie Wyatt of St. Louis. Also surviving are her step-daughters, Connie Fortnam of Clintonville, Wisconsin; Cindy Buckley of Arnold, Missouri; and Leah (Michael) Moses of Crestwood, Missouri; a half-brother, Wayne Doster of Dexter, Missouri; a sister-in-law Irene Sarna; brother in law Gordon "Bud" (Joyce) Suehs, both of Manawa, Wisconsin; as well as other relatives, special friends and neighbors. In 1946 at Emmaus Lutheran Church, St. Louis, Fern was baptized and confirmed and remained a member there until her November 25, 1972 marriage to Rev. Suehs who she met while working as bookbinder at Concordia Publishing House. Upon completion of Rev. Suehs' C.P.H's employment as a proof reader, the couple departed for St. Paul Lutheran, Otto, Missouri, where he served as Pastor until retirement. Later, Fern became a member of Crace Lutheran, Desoto, Missouri until transferring to Peace Lutheran, St. Louis, October 7, 2002, where her membership since has remained. Fern experienced relatively good health until the advances of age weakened her condition. In late August, she was admitted to Mercy Hospital (Jefferson), Crystal City, Missouri and on September16th she entered its Hospice program. The following day, September 17th, 2015 at 3:09 pm, she quietly departed this life. She attained the age of 87 years and 16 days. Services: Visitation Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS (South County), 4830 Lemay Ferry Road (63129) from 1:00 pm to the time of funeral service at 1:30 pm Tuesday. Interment following at National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, Missouri at 2:15 pm on Tuesday. Memorials to Peace Lutheran Church are appreciated. September 22, 2015
