Eileen Marie Kenney, nee Richard, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday December 27, 2024, at the age of 92. Born and raised in St. Louis to parents the late Charles and Elizabeth, nee Endejan, Richard as the youngest of six in early March 1932. Beloved mother of Michael Kenney, the late Mary Kenney, Nancy Holley, and Stephen Kenney; cherished grandmother of Stephen Holley, Grace Kenney, Jack Kenney, and Cole Kenney; treasured great-grandmother of Cheyenne Holley and Kyle Cline. Eileen is also survived by many other relatives and dear friends.

Eileen valued her family above all else, working and sacrificing to provide for them. She enriched their lives by involving them in many activities: Swimming, Tennis, Dance, Scouts, and so much more. By example, she showed us that we can try new things. She joined Toastmasters, took speed reading classes, tried her hand at ceramics, learned how to ski, played tennis and joined the tennis club at Tower Grove Park.

From an early age, Eileen had many jobs. She worked at the Parkmoor as a car hop, was an elevator operator, she worked for the Railroad and at Allen Foods. Ultimately, she found great success at the notable St. Louis Post-Dispatch as a Salesperson and Program Manager, from which she retired. Upon retirement, for a brief time, she ran a small shop at the State Hospital.

She is known for being a kind person, who was always thinking of others. She was a strong, independent, organized woman who was well read and up on current events. She was skilled at socializing with many kinds of people and was sought out for her conversational skills. She was skilled at organizing people and events. She was not afraid to speak her mind and was a supporter of the rights of women and children. She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. Her legacy is her family, and it is now our duty to make her proud.
