Grote, Edward E. "Ed" on Friday, March 13, 2015 at age 91. Beloved husband of Geraldine "Gerry" Grote. Dear uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend. Sgt. Ed Grote joined the U. S. Army in June of 1943 and served a tour of duty in the European Theater until the end of WWII. He was awarded 5 Bronze Stars for Campaigns which included battles in Normandy, North France, Ardennes, Central Europe and the Rhineland. Following his discharge after WWII, he re-enlisted in the Army in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1948. He was then drafted in 1951 for the Korean War and discharged in 1952 after 2 years of service in Korea. He was entitled to wear campaign ribbons for the European, African and Middle Eastern Theaters. Ed served his country very honorably during all 3 tours of duty. He was a 60+ year member of the Cache Lodge #416, A. F. & A. M. after joining in 1954 and being raised to a Mason in February of 1955. Memorials to the charity of donor's choice are appreciated Services: Visitation Friday (3/20/15) at JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS, 7027 Gravois (63116), from 10:30 am to the funeral service time of 11:30 am Friday. Interment J. B. National Cemetery with full military honors.
