Schiller, Edmund J.
Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Sat., Feb. 12, 2022, at the age of 90. Beloved husband of 67 years of the late Marie (Koenig) Schiller; preceded in death by parents, Roland and Marie (Kelly) Schiller, brothers and sister-in-law William, Joseph and Frances (Berra) Schiller, son and daughter-in-law Tim and Grayce (McGuigan) Schiller, and granddaughter, Anne Schiller. Beloved brother of Roland (Marylyn) Schiller, Jr. Loving father of Debbie (John) Marklin, Bill (Kristin Denbow), Tom (Christine), Pat (Garry) Orf and Christopher (Angela). Grandfather to 20, great-grandfather to 9, loving uncle, dear friend.
Ed was a loyal, hardworking, determined man. He met Marie, the love of his life, on his route delivering “bundles” for Scruggs. She was 16 and he was soon to enter the U.S. Army, but their courtship prevailed. He deeply loved her and his family and always let them know he believed in them. He was known for his patience, his ability to listen, to coach and to give sound advice. He was proudly loyal and impeccably knowledgeable of St. Louis sports teams. He was opinionated and had an unwavering certainty of what was best for his kids and grandkids. He was an expert craftsman; wood finishing became his passion. He started his own business, Refinishing, Inc., in 1968, not only providing for, but sending all 6 kids through college. He touched hundreds of lives at O.L.S. coaching softball, including two city champions, baseball, and soccer. The CYC Follies was his brainchild and he worked tirelessly on it. He was resilient, embracing his ipad, cooking and customer service reps as needed. He never missed a game, he loved bacon and eggs, he was fiercely loyal to his family and friends, he loved God and his wife.
The family wishes to thank St. Mary’s ICU for their kindness to Ed and his family.
