Firlit, Dr. Casimir F. "Casey" baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at age 73, in St. Louis, Missouri. Beloved husband and soul mate for 18 years of Barbara M. Firlit (nee Mester). Loving father of Matthew (Heather) Firlit, Michelle (Valentin) Garcia, Rebecca Ninon (Matthew) Duiven. Dearest grandfather of Kieran, Jackson, Alexander, Caitlyn, Gabriel, Sofi, Olivia, Miles and Oliver. Dear brother of Christine (Henry) Juiris, Robert (Marianne) Firlit, George (Katherine) Firlit, Bernadette (Gregory) Skladzien, Dear son-in-law of Marianne Mester. Dear uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend to many. Casimir was a decorated Naval Medical Corps. Commanding Officer and Regimental Surgeon in the 3rd Marine Division. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star during the Vietnam War. Casimir was a world renowned innovative Pediatric Urologic Reconstructive Surgeon and Physician and a pioneer in pediatric renal transplantation. He was a Professor of Urology, Chief of Pediatric Urology and prominent educator for over 30 years at Children's Memorial Medical Center in Chicago; and in St. Louis at Cardinal Glennon Pediatric Medical Center for the past 8 years. Casey was a magnificent man with a brilliant mind, gifted hands and loving heart. He helped thousands and thousands of children and their families, touching and changing their lives in the process. He was passionate about caring for children and their families and genuinely loved what he did. Casey dearly loved his children and family; a father who went above and beyond to nurture and support them. He had the ability to make everyone he came in contact with feel important and want to become a better person. Casey loved to sail; was a commodore sailor who found peace being on the water. He was "gentleman's man" who had the grit to understand life's hardness but possessed the love and understanding necessary to touch your soul.
