Donald "Don" Gordon Bowen

October 28, 1939 — February 19, 2025

St. Louis

Mr. Don Bowen a well-respected retired teacher / educator / principle, in the St. Louis public school system, in elementary education for many years, has seen his last sunset from this side of paradise.

Don has taken his journey on to his heavenly home, to meet with all the loved ones that have preceded him. Our parents, brothers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters/brothers-in-law were all there to greet him, oh what a day of rejoicing that must have been for them all, as we wept for our loss of him with us.

Our beloved brother is survived by many, there is a son, brothers, sisters, uncles, cousins, sisters/brothers- in-law, nieces' nephews, great nieces / nephews that will carry on his memory.

Don was a man of faith, and in his earlier years grew up in the Southern Baptist beliefs, having been baptized at Lafayette Baptist Church and had attended and involved with the choir at LaSalle Baptist Church for many years.
Don attended and graduated from Clinton Peabody Grade School, McKinley High School, Harris Stowe teachers College, received his master's degree in education at S.I.U. in Edwardsville, and pursued studies toward his Doctorate.

Don had a strong work ethic but knew how to relax and enjoyed his down time when he could, fishing and hunting were things he really enjoyed, and I know he caught more than his fair share of fish, and bagged some nice deer, over his lifetime.
Travel well Donald Gordon Bowen, and we all know and believe: YOU NEVER DIE AS LONG AS YOU LIVE IN THE HEARTS OF THOSE YOU LEAVE BEHIND.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, American Kidney Foundation, or Jefferson Barracks Food Pantry, or food pantry of donor's choice, in Donald's honor.
