Dianne V. Mees (nee Skillman) passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on Friday, October 20, 2017, in St. Louis, Missouri. Born on February 16, 1945, Dianne was a lifelong resident of St. Louis. She attended Notre Dame High School and received a degree in education from Fontbonne College. On June 15, 1968, she married her beloved husband Art Mees, with whom she lovingly raised eight children: Ann Garrido (Mike), Art Mees Jr. (Anne), Janet Reinert (Brett), Tim Mees (Kathleen), Mary Garsaud (Marcel), Stephen Mees (Maribeth), Katie Weintraub (Jason), and Paul Mees (Jackie). She welcomed and adored all 15 of her grandchildren, with one on the way: Micah Garrido, A. J. Mees, Owen Mees, Will Mees, Max Reinert, Henry Reinert, Lily Reinert, Aubrey Mees, Daniel Mees, Amelia Garsaud, Marcel Garsaud, Oliver Mees, Aspen Weintraub, George Mees, and Charlie Mees. She easily qualified as one of the best grandmothers, ready to sing and play with her grandchildren and never forgetting birthdays, school events, and special achievements. Dianne was a woman of prayer and justice who was always trying to make the world a better place. She was an active member of her parish, Our Lady of Sorrows, and volunteered countless hours with Contemplative Outreach, Metropolitan Congregations United, Just Faith, and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. She was a model of love and compassion for her community, celebrating the births of children and sharing her gentle heart in times of trial. Countless children found warmth and joy in her home. Elderly and sick friends were nourished by the meals that she prepared and the many loaves of pumpkin bread that she baked. A Memorial Mass will be held in her honor at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church on Friday, October 27, 2017, at 6 p.m. The Mass will be followed by a gathering in Faenger Hall (just behind the church) beginning around 7:15 p.m. Although she loved flowers, we would most love to continue her good work through donations to Contemplative Outreach of St. Louis and Our Lady of Sorrows Conference of St. Vincent de Paul.
