Dennis Louis Torres, a man for his strength, caring, and loving soul, passed on November 9, 2023. He was born on November 9, 1947. Today, we gather to celebrate the remarkable life of Dennis and bid farewell to a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
Dennis touched the lives of many through his military service as a US Veteran. He proudly served in Vietnam and was honored with three purple hearts for his bravery and dedication. His commitment to serving his country exemplified his unwavering courage and selflessness.
Beyond his military achievements, Dennis had a passion for exploring the world as a trucker. His love for travel took him far and wide, allowing him to see and experience the wonders that this beautiful planet has to offer. Whether it was the open road or different cities and countries, Dennis embraced every opportunity to broaden his horizons.
However, Dennis's greatest joys in life were found within the embrace of his family. He cherished his late wife Amanda Torres deeply and held their marriage as one of life's most precious gifts. Together they created a warm and loving home for their children Gina (Robert Neuman) Torres and Maria Torres. Dennis adored them both endlessly and took great pride in watching them grow into exceptional individuals.
As a doting grandfather, Dennis showered his grandchildren with unconditional love and support. He delighted in spending time with Isaiah Hammett, Carina Hammett, Angelo Mokwa, Robert Griffin Jr., Brittany Torres, Breana Torres, Dominic Torres, as well as his four great-grandchildren, and many adopted grandchildren. Their presence brought immense joy to his life, creating cherished memories to last a lifetime.
Dennis's dedication extended beyond the bounds of family as he tirelessly fought for justice for his grandson Isaiah. His unwavering commitment to fighting for what was right demonstrated both strength of character and an unyielding love for those closest to him.
In his moments of leisure, Dennis found solace in music and the companionship of his beloved dogs. The melody of his favorite songs provided comfort and inspiration, allowing him to escape into a world filled with emotion and meaning. His furry friends brought immeasurable joy, offering unwavering loyalty and unconditional love. Dennis was an avid deer hunter who enjoyed spending time in nature and pursuing his favorite game. He also loved boxing and wrestling and was a loyal fan of his favorite teams and fighters. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his sense of humor, and his kindness to his family and friends.
Today, as we gather to celebrate the life of Dennis Louis Torres, let us remember him as a man who lived with bravery, compassion, and an unyielding dedication to those he held dear. While we mourn his passing, let us also find solace in knowing that his spirit lives on through the memories we treasure.
Visitation services will be held on November 16, 2023, at the John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Homes - South City Chapel in St. Louis, Missouri. The visitation will commence at 4:00 PM and conclude at 8:00 PM.
A funeral service will follow on November 17, 2023, also held at the John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Homes - South City Chapel. The service will begin at 10:30 AM, allowing family and friends to come together to honor Dennis's life.
Afterward, the interment will take place at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. The ceremony will commence at 11:30 AM.
Dennis Louis Torres leaves behind an indelible legacy of love, strength, and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew him. May his soul find eternal peace as his memory lives on in our hearts forever.
