Hackett, Daniel P., 79, Fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Sunday, March 12th, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Daniel was the beloved husband of Jane Hackett (Wille) for 55 years. Dear father of Brian (Molly), Brad (Karen), Chris (Lisa), Michelle Bagwell and Jenny (Mike) Dasher. Proud Grandfather to Casey, Ben & Katie Hackett, Jason, Drew, Gina & Anna Hackett, Allison & Jack Hackett, Ethan & Luke Bagwell and Tori & Nina Dasher. Dear brother of the late Denis (Joan) Hackett and David (Barbara) Hackett. Dear Brother-in-law of Jacqueline (the late William) Phillips, the late Gordon (Kay) Wille, Maryjo (the late George) Thornburgh, the late Barbara & Ken Garrett, Judy Jung, Dan Wille and Patricia (Carl) Oliver. Dan was also a loving uncle, Godfather, cousin and friend of many. A St. Louis native, Dan was born June 14, 1937 in South City. He attended St. Mary's High School and St. Louis University. He enjoyed a successful career in the flooring business for more than 30 years. Dan had an abundant love for his wife Jane and his family. He was active with his children as a long time soccer coach, referee, and Boy Scout troop leader. He was heavily involved in his parish community and later in life cherished his time as a volunteer at the Siteman Cancer Center. He was an avid reader, loved to travel, enjoyed playing golf and fishing, but his greatest love and joy were his children and grandchildren, whom he adored. Dan was passionate about organ donation and grateful for the gift of his heart which he received on August 9, 1993. He will be remembered for his great will to fight and his peaceful passing in the end. Services: Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 19th, 4:00-8:00 PM at JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS FUNERAL HOMES (South County), 4830 Lemay Ferry Road (63129). Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, March 20th at 10:00 AM at Mary, Mother of the Church,5901 Kerth Road, 63128).
