Niemeyer, Clayton R. "Clay" of St. Louis, MO, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at age 84. He is survived by his daughters, Gail Brown of Omaha, NE, and Joan Boyle of Cocoa Beach, FL and by step-daughters Cindy Nelson of Hallsville, MO, Cheryl DiSalvo of Newport News, VA and Christina Smith of Charlottesville, Va. His grandchildren include Amanda E. Meyer of Defiance, MO, Staff Sergeant Andrew Brown, U.S. Army and David Brown of Omaha, NE. His Step grandchildren include Daniel and Dennis DiSalvo of Newport News, VA and Eric and Heather Nelson of Hallsville, MO. His great grandchildren include Isaac and Allison Meyer of Defiance, MO, and Aiden and Grace Brown of Honolulu, HI. He is indebted to his former wife and dear friend, Mary Niemeyer of St. Louis, MO, for her selfless caretaking over the past five years. A member of "the greatest generation," Clayton served his country in the U. S. Navy as a Gunner's Mate in the western pacific during World War II, earning the Purple Heart, and was recalled to active duty in the Navy during the Korean War, overseeing an ammunition depot in Japan. He led a full and active life pursuing careers in banking, sales, commercial real estate, law enforcement and security. He was appointed Missouri Deputy Commissioner of Finance by then Commissioner of Finance, H. Duane Pemberton. His community service included membership in the Masonic Order at Twilight Lodge #114, A.F & A.M., Columbia, MO and the Mehlville Optimist Club of St. Louis, MO. His was a life well lived and he will be sorely missed by family and friends. Services: Family and friends will gather for visitation on Saturday, August 15 from 10 am to the time of the memorial service at 11 am at JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS (South County) 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd.
