Fortified by the sacraments of the Holy Catholic Church and surrounded by devoted family, Claire Shelley (nee Mueller), 95, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024 in the South County home in which she and her husband, Bill Shelley, raised their three children. Claire was born in St. Louis to the late Bill and Loretto (Wendt) Mueller. She attended St. Stephen’s Catholic Grade School and graduated from Nerinx Hall in 1947. She attended Webster Groves College before marrying Bill in 1952.
Claire is preceded in death by her loving husband Bill. She is survived by her children Cindy (Michael) Casey, Bill (Robyn) Shelley, and Daniel (Brittany) Shelley; and her grandchildren Duke (Melissa) Shelley, Colin Casey, Shannon (Kendall) Cox, Kate Casey, Maggie Casey and Colleen Casey. Claire has four beautiful great grandchildren, Madelyn Shelley, William Shelley, Emmerson Cox and Miller Cox.
Claire was devoted to her family, her many friends and her Catholic faith. Many thanks to the St. Simon Catholic Community for the support and friendship shown throughout the years.
Services: Visitation at Ziegenhein Funeral Home on Lemay Ferry Rd. from 4 pm to 7 pm Friday, January 3. The funeral mass will be held at St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church at 10 am Saturday, January 4.
