Claire Fleiss

Claire Fleiss (nee Kassing), 97, fell asleep in Jesus on April 12, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Claire was born and lived in St. Louis, Missouri for her first 70 years, then resided in Overland Park, Kansas for over 27 years.

Beloved wife of the late Norman R. Fleiss, Claire was also preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Olinda Kassing (nee Siering), her sisters Ruth (Harold) Doerr (Robert) Hooss, Audrey (Jack) Wirz, Charlotte Moret, and her brothers Robert Kassing and Donald Kassing.

Claire is survived by her son Douglas (Mary) Fleiss of Aiken, South Carolina; her daughter Karen (Craig) Fritsche of Overland Park, Kansas; her grandson Edward (Brigette) Fleiss of Smithfield, Virginia; her granddaughters Jenna (Simon) Barnes of Lawrence, Kansas and Sara Fritsche of Overland Park, Kansas; and her great-grandsons Grant and Blake Fleiss. Claire is also survived by her sister-in-law, Judy Kassing, and her brother-in-law, Frank Moret, her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. All should remember that one of her family’s favorite Bible passages is Joshua 24:15, where he stated, “but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to St. Luke’s Hospice House care team and her Pastor Rev. Sean Baker of Bethany Lutheran Church in Overland Park, Kansas for the special physical and spiritual care provided over the past month.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 10 AM prior to the 11 AM Funeral Service at Peace Lutheran Church officiated by Rev. Dr. Dennis Kastens, Pastor Emeritus, 737 Barracksview Rd., St. Louis, Missouri 63125. Following this service, Claire will be interred at St. Trinity Cemetery, 2160 Lemay Ferry Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church, St. Louis, Missouri.
