Charles Dooling

September 30, 1947 — August 15, 2021

Charles Ignatius Dooling, 73, fortified with the sacraments of the Holy Mother Church on August 15, 2021. Loving husband of over 47 years to Mary Dooling, nee Noonan, dear son of the late Frank and Julia, nee Prendergast, beloved father of Colleen (Ed) Weinhardt, Ann Marie (Matt) Guntli, Maggie (Peter) Newhouse, and Kathryn (Jason) Posey, cherished grandfather of, Charlotte, Lauren, Tommy, Lucy, Claire, Jack, Rory, and Eddie, beloved brother of Marian McIntyre, Frank Dooling Jr., George (Sally) Dooling, Ann Gubbins, Julie (the late Jack) Busen, and the late Margaret Dooling. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.

Charles was a Marine Veteran and Purple Heart recipient serving in the Vietnam War and later was a member of the Marine Corps League Detachment 183, where he was active with their military honor guard. He was an active member of Church of the Magdalen Parish and loved Cardinal baseball, watching crime shows and westerns on TV, and vacationing with his family. He loved being a "girl dad" and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Barnes-Jewish Hospital ER and ICU for their kindness to Charles and his family.

Memorials are appreciated to The National Kidney Foundation or Wounded Warrior Project.

Services: Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Thurs, Aug 19, 2021, at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons South City Chapel 7027 Gravois Ave. Mass of Christian burial will be at 9 am Fri. August 20, 2021 at Church of the Magdalen 4924 Bancroft. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
