Carolyn Gioia

Gioia, Carolyn Jo, age 91, baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection on Thursday, May 25, 2017. Dear daughter of the late James and Domenica Gioia (nee Gandorla). Dear cousin of Joseph Gioia and Josephine Ruggeri Muegge. Dear friend to many. Carolyn was dedicated to and beloved by her family. She was always mindful of and generous to the poor, the needy and the underserved of society. Carolyn was a 1949 graduate of St. Louis University (Physical Therapy Degree) and received her master's degree from Columbia University in NY. She worked as a dedicated physical therapist for 45 years and actively participated in various international and national physical therapy organizations. Carolyn was a life-long supporter of St. Louis University---Go Billikens! She was a member of St. Louis University 1818 & DuBourg Society, St. Ambrose Senior Citizens, Lady of Mt. Carmel, Hill 2000 Senior Citizens, St. Louis Senior Citizens, YMCA, Matt Talbot Club and the Italian American Bocce Club. To support disabled physical therapy students, memorials to the Carolyn Jo Gioia Endowed Scholarship Program at St. Louis University, c/o Office of Planned Giving, #1 N. Grand Blvd., St. Louis, MO (63103) are greatly appreciated. Services: Visitation Tuesday (5/30) at St. Ambrose Church, 5130 Wilson ave.
