Carol Pennycuick

April 20, 1943 — April 27, 2016

Carol Lynn Pennycuick was born on April 20, 1943 to Robert and Glenna Smith of Farmington, Missouri. Her brother, Robert, and sister, Rosemary, survive her. Her brother, Richard, preceded her in death. She died peacefully on April 27, 2016. Carol grew up on a farm in St. Francois County, Missouri. She attended a one-room primary school and graduated from Esther High School. She graduated Missouri Baptist University and worked for Bristol Myers Corporation. On June 30, 1962, she married Robert "Bob" Pennycuick. They had two daughters, Julie Mocker and Jennifer Teckman, sons-in-law, Terry Mocker and Jeff Teckman, and grandchildren Tara, Mandy, Nate and Nina, all of Des Peres, Missouri. Bob and Carol lived most of their life in St Louis but spent six years in upstate New York. They also spent many months at their beach condo in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. As avid travelers, they visited all fifty United States and forty-five foreign countries, revisiting several of their favorites multiple times. Carol loved exploring the world, but was most proud of being an American. She was a true patriot and supported Bob's long military career in every way. Her support and advocacy for military families brought reassurance and smiles to many men, women and children. Her church, Concord Trinity United Methodist, was an important part of her life. She was the church librarian, was active in bible study groups and taught children's Sunday school. She was a natural leader and an energetic driving force at getting things done. She loved organizing and hosting celebrations for her family, friends and church members. She opened her home to everyone and was happiest when it was full of laughter and fellowship. Carol's passion for her family leaves them a rich legacy of unselfish love. She always spoke proudly of her children, sons-in-law and grandchildren. She loved hosting holiday celebrations with the house brightly decorated, the kitchen filled with delicious food and fun games for the grandchildren. Carol lived her life to the fullest. She now joins the faithful in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Rest in peace beloved Carol, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
