Carl J. Schaeffer

Schaeffer, Carl J. Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Thursday October 10, 2024, at the age of 94 years. Beloved husband for 69 years to the late Mary L. Schaeffer, nee Scheman; loving father of Karen (the late Dave) Nelson, Mark (Theresa) Schaeffer, Joseph Schaeffer, and the late Christine (surviving Jim) Hawthorne; dear grandfather of Ted (Christie) Reyland, Kimberly (Robert) Christian, Shaun (Brandy) McBride, Brian (Alexandria) McBride, Mark (Chi) Schaeffer, Danielle (Anthony) Kontny, Kristen (Zac) Johnson, Joie Ann Cutler, and Jessica Lacroix Beatty; dear great-grandfather to 24, great-great-grandfather of 4, cousin, and friend to many.

For 38 years, Carl was an employee of Missouri Pacific R.R. and retired as a systems analysist. He was a CYC Coach in Basketball, Soccer, and Softball for 20 years at St. Luke in Richmond Heights. Member of St. Raphael Church and volunteered many hours taking care of all the flowers around the St. Louis Activity Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to American Cancer Society in Carl's honor.

Carl's visitation will be held on Wednesday October 16, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South City Chapel 7027 Gravois Ave. St. Louis, MO 63116. An additional visitation will take place the following morning, October 17, from 9:00 a.m. until his 10:00 funeral service, also at the funeral home. Interment in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery alongside his beloved wife, the late Mary, at 11:30 a.m.
