McCabe, Bertha E. "Beth" (nee Jasinski) on Monday, July 22, 2013; beloved wife of the late James J. McCabe; dear mother of Patricia Lee (Conrad) Hitchler, Kathleen K. (the late David) Pozniak and Maureen E. (Mathew) Rush; dear grandmother of Cori (James) Hostetter, Spencer (Jana) Lomax, Kylene (Justin) Puckett, David Pozniak, Regan Pozniak, Nicholas (Joy) Rush and Michael (Abby) Rush; dear great-grandmother of Hampton Hostetter, Emerson Hostetter, Townes Lomax, Althea Lomax, Prestin Puckett, Alia Puckett, Braden Puckett, Camden Puckett and Allison Rush; our dear sister, aunt and friend. Beth was born on lucky numbers 7-7-27 to Andrew and Bertha Jasinski. She grew up with her sister Jeanette and her brother Andy. She attended Hancock Grade School and High School. Beth continued her education at St. Louis City Hospital School of Nursing, and earned her Certificate of Nursing May 18, 1948. She later returned to school in 1972 and attended St. Louis University where she attained her Bachelor Degree of Science in Nursing on August 12, 1977. Soon after getting her nursing license Beth me Jim McCabe, fell in love, and they were married January 28, 1949. She was blessed with three daughters: Patricia (Lee), Kathy and Maureen. Beth's family grew and she became a grandmother and a great-grandmother. Beth enjoyed her nursing career working at City Hospital, St. Louis County Hospital, JBVA Hospital, Koch Hospital, Firmin Desloge Hospital, Hancock Place School, St. Anthony's Hospital and the Special School District. The McCabes were involved in many activities and clubs through the years. Beth helped with the Girl Scouts and led their camping activities. She was the first Skipper of the boating organization the St. Louis Power Squadron. She was a member of the Republican Club, Junior League, the Elks and the Nurse's Alumnae. She took up bowling and also began to golf. She won awards for both, but was most proud of her golf award for a chipped hole in one shot. Beth was a member of Bethesda and then St. Johns United Church of Christ (Mehlville). Services: Visitation Wednesday 3:00 pm until time of service 6:30 pm at JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS (South County) 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd. (63129). Interment Private. If desired memorials to the Alzheimer's Association. July 24, 2013
