Bernard Kane

June 9, 1927 — December 25, 2019

Bernard A Kane, the son of the late Henry E Kane and Mary K Kane passed into the arms of Jesus on Dec. 25, 2019. He was raised in Washington DC with his late sister, Mary T Hartman.  Husband of Joan M Kane for 64 years. Father of Mike Kane(Kathy), Darlene Surkamp(David), Barbara Calcaterra (Rick), Laura Barbour, Buddy Kane(De), Tommy Kane and Jeanine Greco(Sam). Grandfather to 19 and Great-grandfather to 21.
Bernie, as he was known, loved the Washington Redskins and loved when the Nationals won the World Series. He loved baseball, camping , calling bingo for the Knights of Columbus, but mostly he loved to tell jokes.  He was proud to have been a Seabee and wore his hat proudly everyday.He was loved and will be missed by many.
Visitation at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South County Funeral Home on Sunday Dec. 29 from 4-8 pm, Service Monday 12:30pm at the funeral home.  Interment with full military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the veterans' charity of your choice.
