McLean, Barbara A
Baptized into the hope of Christ’s Resurrection on Friday, November 20, 2020. Beloved wife of the late Bill McLean, loving mother of Mark (Nancy) McLean, Kathy (Mark) Kon , Mike (Maureen) McLean and Kelly Mullins; cherished grandma of Lauren (June), Benjamin (Samantha), Julia (Curtis), Lindsey, Emily (Tanner), Ty, Kevin, Alex, Zach, Kaitlyn, Karli, Audrey, Ava, and Marissa; great-grandma of Aja, Aiden, Grant, Piper, and a soon to be great grandson. Dearest sister of Mary Jo and Sue Kraus, and sister of the heart to Diane and Connie. Our dear aunt, cousin and friend.
Barb was the oldest of three sisters born to Walter and Dorothy Kraus. In her youth, she loved to play all kinds of sports. She remained friends with her classmates from St. Thomas grade school and St. Anthony’s high school all her life, especially her cherished “Happy Six” from her high school days at SAH. In high school, Barb met the love of her life, she and Bill were married in June of 1959, eventually having four children.
Barb excelled at sports, playing first base on her softball team up until she was fifty. She loved bowling and volleyball as well. She also loved playing cards and games and was an avid bridge player, making many friends in the last few years in her bridge clubs. But her biggest love was her family, and she loved nothing more than spending time with them.
The greatest blessings of Barb’s life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The grandkids will always recall the times spent at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. She loved to have all of the cousins together, making sure they made memories to last a lifetime. They will remember lake trips, baking cookies, decorating gingerbread houses, trips to Purina Farms and the zoo, spending the night together, playing games and cards, and much more. Each grandchild had a very special bond with Grandma and she made sure each one knew how much they were loved.
Barb will be dearly missed by many.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. and live streamed at http://YouTube.com/user/smmaparish.
Donations in Barb's memory can be made to The American Kidney Foundation.
