Audrey was born in St. Louis on June 3, 1924 and resided there for all but the last 438 days of her life. Declining health had forced a move to Idaho to be near family. And even though she enjoyed her view of the mountains, she missed her beloved birthplace and friends every one of those days. She managed to delay her death in hope of returning prior to drawing her last breath but that was not to be. She died August 12th in her Meridian, Idaho home with her daughters by her side. Audrey and Clarence, her husband of 65+ years, traveled around the world twice; the curio cabinet in her living room held the treasures to prove it. Family came first with Audrey, and activities involving children, her own and others, and caring for elderly relatives kept her busy for many years. Few Sundays went by without all of the chairs at her dining room table occupied by extended family who enjoyed her cooking and hospitality. She and Clarence spent most Saturday evenings playing cards with their many life-long friends. Poker was their game of choice until they reached their 80s and pinochle crept into their routine more frequently. She is survived by her daughters Joan Sullens (Greg) of Maple Grove, MN and Joyceanne Fick (Bob) of Boise, ID; grandson Scott Sullens (Vanessa) of High Point, NC and granddaughter Stacey Dragoo (John) of Muncie, IN. Audrey adored her 5 great-granddaughters, Grace and Molly Sullens and Maggie, Josie and Ruthie Dragoo. Her husband Clarence predeceased her. A service will be held at JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS at 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd. on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 10:30 AM. Visitation with family will begin at 9:30. A private burial will take place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery that afternoon. Many thanks to the Meadow Lake Village Resident Services staff and Legacy Hospice staff for their assistance so Audrey could remain living independently until the end. Memorial donations may be sent to the Humane Society of Missouri at 1201 Macklind Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110 or the charity of the donor's choice.
