Anna Callahan

November 11, 1921 — February 1, 2009

Callahan, Anna Mary (nee Beckman), 87 of St. Louis Co., Mo., died at her home on Jan. 15, 2009. She was born Nov. 11, 1921, in Hugoton, KS, the daughter of Theodore Wilhelm Beckman and Anna Cecilia (Ribbing) Beckman. She married Floyd Lee Callahan on June 4, 1946 in Plains, KS. They spent the majority of their married life living in St. Louis where they had four children. She is survived by her daughter Anna Mae (Mike) Kubiak; sons Gerry L. (Bonnie) Callahan and Jerry W. (Deborah) Callahan, and daughter-in-law, Janice Callahan. Also surviving are grandchildren Brian (Cheryl) Kubiak, Eric Kubiak, Rachael Kubiak as well as step grandchildren Tina (Tony) Scotty, Kim Wresinski, Bryan (Malena) Wresinski, Lorri (Kevin) Jacobs and also great grandchildren: Amanda Kubiak and Melissa Kubiak, Zachary Kubiak; and step great grandchildren Jesse Wresinski, Chelsea Jacobs, Nakoa Scotty, Maya Wresinski. Also surviving are one brother Joe (Ann) Beckman of Columbia, MO., as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband and son Floyd E. Callahan. Also preceeding her in death were sisters Hilda (Beckman) Shelton, and Ellanora (Beckman) Burnos; brothers Gene Beckman, Wilb Beckman, Greg Beckman, Ted Beckman and Ed Beckman. Mrs. Callahan was a retired cashier for National Food Stores in St. Louis and was a volunteer for more than 30 years at the Jefferson Barracks V.A. Medical Center in St. Louis Co., as well as a long time member and officer of the American Legion Ladies Aux., Clinton-Roosevelt Unit # 1, the 8 & 40, and Past Pres. of the 11th & 12th District, Unit # 1. She was an avid quilter and belonged to the quilters' group at Assumption Parish Church. She has made many beautiful quilts for all of her loving family as well as many friends. Her family gave her so much joy and she always made it known that her children and grandchildren were so important to her. Services: Funeral 10:30 AM Tues. from John L. Ziegenhein & Sons, (South County), 4830 Lemay Ferry Road, to Assumption Church, for Mass celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Visitaiton Monday. 3 - 9 PM, with Ladies Aux. service 7:00 PM. Mrs. Callahan preferred, and family requests contributions to Cancer Society, or the Floyd E. Callahan Mem. Scholorship Fund, c/o St. Louis College of Pharmacy. January 19, 2009
