Alan Ronald Goldstein went to be with the Angels in heaven on Wednesday, July 5, 2017. We are at peace knowing he was met by his parents Ruth (Irmgard) and Bernard whom he hasn't seen in over 40 years. Al was the dear husband of Sally Goldstein (nee Caron/ Overturf,) loving father of Kate and Lauren Goldstein and stepfather to Lauren, Greg and Lindsey Overturf. Alan was born and lived in Tonawanda, New York where he still to this day has many close friends. A job at Sterling Optical moved him to St. Louis, Missouri over 25 years ago where he met his first wife Beth and had two beautiful children, Kate and Lauren. Alan enlisted in the Army in 1971 during the Vietnam War. After two years he was given an honorable discharge to come home and take care of his mother. Al was a hard worker and finished an accounting degree while working at Sterling Optical. He later picked up a position in payroll at AG Edwards and then onto Stifel Financial. The friends he made along the way have remained friends even to this day. Al was everyone's favorite fun-loving guy! On July 5th, 2008 (9 years to the day of his death) Al met Sally through mutual friends and it was a soul mate connection immediately. They spent many years together creating a beautiful blended family before deciding to spend forever together in 2013. Al, Kate and Lauren were welcomed into Sally's extremely large family and although it was overwhelming at first, all three fit right in and it was as if they were meant to be there the entire time. Al will be a big puzzle piece missing from the life of everyone who knew him, but we are at peace knowing he is still watching over us with our God in heaven. Visitation will be Sunday July 9, 2017 4pm until 8pm Funeral Service is Monday July 10, 2017 8am At John L. Ziegenhein & Sons Funeral Home South County Chapel Interment at National Cemetery Jefferson Barracks, Mo. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Mid America Transplant.
