Pvt. James R. Tash U.S. Army, 31 Infantry Regiment, Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient. Passed away Sunday, July 19, 1942, Cabanatuan POW Camp in the Philippines. He was taken prisoner on May 6, 1942 and was subjected to the 65 mile Bataan Death March. His remains were identified on September 27, 2022 from a common grave at Cabanatuan Camp Cemetery. His surviving family has elected to have his remains interred in his hometown, St. Louis, Missouri, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. He was the son of Arthur and Myrtle, nee Golden, Tash, and brother of Herbert Tash, Alfred Tash, and Vernice Arnold. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
